Residency at VAULT
WOLF PACK, a contemporary performance group which has been the focal point of my musical existence in London, will soon be putting on five shows in a venue known as VAULT, which may be the coolest place I'll have ever performed. These pictures are what I saw on the way to the first rehearsal at the venue. It would take a much better photographer than me and my phone to convey the atmosphere of this truly post-modern enclave.
Ipswich
I found myself in the lovely town of Ipswich one day with time to kill when I got the date of a workshop wrong. Being from North America I have never been able to see authentic baroque finery first hand. Christchurch Mansion was built in the 16th century, and its rooms are preserved in styles authentic to many periods from then on. Imagine walking around in this place and hearing Handel's Queen of Sheba in your head. The decorative styles really did seem to suggest the music - musicologists aren't just making it up!
St. Alfege's
Did a concert at this church in Greenwich a few weeks ago, and oh look! Thomas Tallis happened to be buried there!
